JA Career Success^® Blended

JA Career Success Blended Model is an engaging and comprehensive learning experience that introduces high school students to the workplace. As interns, students participate in realistic work experiences in multiple departments of a fictional company, Orbit Boom. The learning experience teaches soft skills and business best practices in the context of scenarios and assignments.

Following participation in the learning experience, students will be able to:

-- Establish SMART performance goals that align with the company's key success factors.
-- Demonstrate self-direction by identifying credible sources, conducting research, and summarizing recommendations
-- Organize work priorities based on importance and urgency.
-- Express empathy and use active listening in a conflict resolution situation.
-- Invent creative and reasonable solutions using collaborative brainstorming techniques.

JA Career Success Blended Model is part of the JA Work and Career Readiness Pathway and is recommended for high school students (grades 9-12). This volunteer- and educator-led learning experience can be implemented as a classroom-based, remote live, or after-school program. It consists of seven 45-minute sessions, with ten optional career development, self-guided activities and an optional advanced independent project. Basic implementation includes Sessions One-Seven delivered by the volunteer or educator, with a minimum of 3 volunteer-led hours. Implementation depends on educator requirements and correlations to local standards.

JA teachers and volunteers are encouraged, as part of this learning experience, to use the resources available in JA Connect® Learning Pathways, located at connect.ja.org. This self-guided experience includes interactives, JA Here to Career, and games and apps for student use.

Request a Presenter to Teach Curriculum

A Junior Achievement Volunteer teaches students

Junior Achievement lessons are delivered by volunteers from the community. These presenters are prepared by JA to facilitate engaging learning activities that focus on financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship. This results in an enriched learning experience that helps students make the connection between what they learn in school and the world outside the classroom.

Steps to Request a Presenter

1) Request Info

Once you've decided to have a JA volunteer in your classroom, fill out the form on this website. You will receive information on next steps.

2) Pick Schedule

You will be able to coordinate a schedule that works for your class either online or in conjunction with a JA representative.

3) Meet Presenter

Once a volunteer is identified for your class, JA will connect you with the presenter to discuss roles, expectations, and logistics.

4) Empower Students with Standards-Based Education

After all details are in place, the JA volunteer will deliver lessons to your students either virtually or in-person.
