Chairman of the Board
Mid-States Rubber Products, Inc.
G. Richard Eykamp joined his father at Mid-States Rubber Products, Inc. in 1960, but was involved with the family company much earlier. Even as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, he returned home monthly to develop layouts of equipment and plant infrastructure for the company's new Princeton facility. Eykamp was instrumental in transitioning the producer of military and household products toward products in the automotive and appliance industries. Today, still family-owned, Mid-States Rubber’s products are sold to manufacturers throughout North and South America as well as Europe and Asia.
Eykamp has been involved in local and regional organizations, serving on the boards of Citizens National Bank and its successors, Lauren International LTD, the Boy Scouts of America Buffalo Trace Council, the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, the Community Foundations of Gibson and Vanderburgh Counties, the Community Foundation Alliance and the United Way of Gibson County. His charitable efforts are reflected through the Buffalo Trace Council's Eykamp Scout Center, the Evansville Philharmonic's Eykamp String Quartet; the Evansville Museum's Eykamp Pavilion, and the University of Evansville's Eykamp Hall and Eykamp Prize for Faculty. He has been recognized with the Buffalo Trace Council Leadership Award; Buffalo Trace Council Silver Beaver Award; the Vanderburgh Community Foundation Spirit of Giving Award, the University of Evansville Honorary Alumnus Award and the Indiana Historical Society Living Legend Award. Eykamp is a graduate of Bosse High School and earned a degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University.
