Ronald Romain is a well-respected leader in the community, consistently growing his group of businesses, United Companies, which has been listed as one of Indiana's top 100 privately held companies. Romain is the owner, president and chief executive officer of United Companies, comprised of Professional Transportation, Inc., Romain Automotive Group, and United Leasing, Inc.
United Leasing, Inc. now serves over 3,000 customers and has leased assets throughout North America. The firm is consistently recognized in the "Monitor Top 25 Private Independents" ranking. Professional Transportation (PTI) provides crew member transportation services to all of the U.S. railroad industry, and has direct operations in 40 states. PTI is the largest crew transportation company in North America and employs over 7,000 associates nationwide. Romain says it's important for each person to follow their heart. "Too many people seem forced into something," he said. "If you have an interest or passion in a given area, that's the path you should go. Don't slow down. Look to grow as much as you can."
Romain is active in many civic and charity organizations, including the St. Mary's Hospital board of directors, Wellborn Baptist Foundation's board of directors, Signature School Foundation, Evansville Regional Business committee, and the Business Roundtable supporting Early Childhood Education. He also is a member of the board of trustees at the University of Southern Indiana. The business leader holds a degree in marketing from the USI.
