Welborn Baptist Hospital
Marjorie Soyugenc, a former director of the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis, served as the head of Welborn Baptist Hospital as well as the Welborn Baptist Foundation, which distributed about $25 million to various charities in its first decade. As the president and chief executive officer of Welborn Baptist Hospital from 1969 – 1999, Soyugenc was responsible for overseeing the work of the Evansville medical facility, which offered innovative features such as family-centered birthing rooms, and occupational health and workplace wellness programs. When Welborn Memorial Baptist Hospital was sold, the foundation moved to the forefront, and Soyugenc took the reins.
The first female and the first nonprofit representative inducted into the Business Hall of Fame, Soyugenc was Chairman of Evansville Metal Products and served as a board member for Old National Bancorp and Old National Bank, as a University of Evansville Trustee and as president of South Western Indiana Mental Health Center, Inc. In addition she was a member of the Early Childhood Development Coalition, the Evansville Education Roundtable, the Mulberry Center Board of Directors, and the WNIN Board of Directors. She also has served on the board of directors of the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance, Vision 2000, and the Metropolitan Evansville Chamber of Commerce.
Soyugenc holds a bachelor's degree in Biology from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an MBA in Business from the University of Evansville. She served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Evansville and as a Director of Southwestern Healthcare, Inc. She served in leadership positions for numerous nonprofit organizations.
